The Classic FPS Re-Engineered with RTX

ID Software's mega-hit first-person shooter Quake II is back with a re-defined look. Quake II RTX is an action game that comes with the classic Quake II gameplay but with massively enhanced visuals. This game is re-released and revamped to take advantage of the latest technology ray-tracing. With this, gamers can experience real-time and controllable time-of-the-day lighting and enjoy optimized game details.

Your Favorite Game Returns

The Quake franchise is a game behemoth when it comes to first-person shooters. Quake II, which was released back in 1997, brought gamers an addictive shooting game with both single-player and multiplayer campaigns. It also came with a jaw-dropping engine, colored lighting, and dynamic visual effects all considered to be out of the box in gaming during that time.

But, as technology progress, so does the gaming industry. And naturally, Quake II had a re-engineering of its own. The game, while having the same mechanics and game flow, boasts a new look. It also has newer dynamic environments with better physically based atmospheric scattering.

The new Quake II RTX also updated all of its 3, 000 plus game textures with a mix of Q2XP mod-pack textures and the developer's own enhancement for a better gaming experience. Game effects also underwent change coming with new sprites and particle animations

Quake II RTX now comes with a cylindrical projection mode that allows a wide-angle field of view on widescreen displays. You can also make your screenshots look even better by using the high-quality screenshot mode

Players will also be glad to know that the game comes with new weapon models and texture.

Introducing the Ray Tracing Effect

But perhaps the biggest change that the Quake II RTX had is utilizing the ray tracing effect. The original Quake II is a very simple game when compared to today's graphical standards, so the addition of these effects creates an extraordinary visual change

With ray tracing, the game comes with a real-time and controllable time-of-day lighting. Procedural environment maps such as mountains, clouds, and the sky will update whenever the time changes. The game will also give accurate sunlight and indirect illumination and provide real-time reflectivity of the player and weapon model on water and glass surfaces for a more life-like feel. Furthermore, Quake II RTX features dynamic lighting for items, including signs, switches, elevators, blinking lights, and moving objects.

Quake II RTX will bring you uncannily realistic effects that wouldn't have been possible to render in real time just a few years back.

A New Look to Your Favorite Game

Avid players of the Quake series are in for a treat with Quake II RTX. Not only did the game brought the classic FPS game back to the limelight, but it also gives it a new look. With the cutting-edge innovation of the ray-tracing, the game can offer you better surface details that look like its physical counterpart. And with the same game flow as its predecessor, Quake II RTX will give you the same thrill but with a better experience
